The City of Richmond’s Community Services Department announced the return of its popular 8v8 Adult Soccer League for the fall.

The fun kicks off on August 25 and the season will run through November 10. Games will be held Fridays from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the MLK Turf Field at 1300 Virginia Ave, and players must be 16 years or older. Players are expected to register as a full team of 14 members, with a $600 fee per team.

Space is limited and spots are filled on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis, so teams eager to get their kicks on the soccer field should sign up soon if possible. Teams of men are encouraged to register.

Teams that register before August 11 will be entitled to two ‘friendly’ games in addition to the regular 10 league contests.

The top four teams will make the playoffs, with trophies and medals awarded to the league’s top two teams.

The city started the league in 2013 and offers spring, summer and fall seasons. To register or find out more, call the Community Services Department at (510) 620-6919.
