Richmond Art Center to host studio glass discussion

Free opening reception set for Richmond Art Center's exhibits

The Richmond Art Center (RAC) has announced plans to host a special panel discussion, “Studio Glass: Trends and Influences,” on Sunday, July 16 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 2540 Barrett Avenue.

Held in connection with the RAC’s summer exhibition, “Glass Currents,” the discussion will focus on the hottest current trends in glass art and will be moderated by JoAnn Edwards, the director of the Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco. Panelists are comprised of Dorothy Saxe, Joe Morel, Randy Strong and Steven Aldrich. The free event is open to the public.

“Glass Currents” is a national exhibition spotlighting works from rising as well as renowned glass artists connected to California via birth, residency, or a degree from an accredited institution.  The regional emphasis is a tribute to the pivotal role California artists played in the initial breakthrough of the Studio Glass Movement.

The exhibition is currently showcased in the RAC’s South Gallery and will remain on display through August 19.
