A Friday night bomb threat spurred an evacuation of the Richmond Police Department headquarters at 1701 Regatta Blvd. as well as their nearby Communications Center.

Numerous nearby residents and businesses were also evacuated, including those along the 2700 blocks of Nevin and Macdonald Avenues. Jetty Driver residents near the Police Department were also evacuated.

Police urged the public for patience, and answered emergency calls from a mobile command center, while facilities were swept for any possible danger following the threatening phone call that came in just before 8 p.m.

The bomb threat was found to not be credible, and the RPD deemed the area clear of danger at around 10:30 p.m., lifting the evacuation order.
