Point Richmond summer concert series off to a dancing start

To the delight of everyone and the surprise of no one, the first concert of the free Point Richmond Music (PRM) summer concert series last Friday was a well-attended good time.

Organizers shared photos of the outdoor event taken by Richmond artist Daud Abdullah. The concert featured performances by Tia Carroll and her Awesome Blues Band, followed by Andre Thierry.

“The first concert was great fun, and we’re excited for our July show featuring HowellDevine and Second Line,” said Christina Zirker.

The 16th annual summer concert series occurs on the second Friday every month from June through September, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Performances are at Park Place and Washington Avenue, and every concert features opportunities to participate in arts and crafts booths, face-painting for children, dancing in the streets plenty of food options.

“Our hard-working volunteers and generous sponsors come together year after year to produce an annual music series that celebrates diversity and promote the arts,” said Andrew Butt, PRM’s board president.
