The West Contra Costa Unified School District summer meals program begins Monday, June 12 and runs through Friday, Aug. 18, the district announced Thursday.
To kick off the WCCUSD Summer Food Service Program, students and their families are invited to a BBQ event on Monday, June 12 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the WCCUSD Nutrition Center, 750 Bissell Avenue in Richmond.
Several other kickoff BBQ events will be held next week in Richmond’s Atchison Village and San Pablo’s Davis Park and at Contra Costa College. More information on those events here.
With more than 16,500 district children receiving free or reduced-price meals during the school year, the WCCUSD summer meals program aims to ensure none of those children go hungry when schools are closed for the summer. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Summer programs are located at approved sites, including faith-based organizations, nonprofits, schools and local government agencies. Visit WCCUSD’s Food services Department website to access the menus, locations and hours. Locations and hours follow:
