The NIAD Art Center is inviting the community to its opening reception this Saturday for its newest exhibition.
The reception, which will feature live music by DJ HORSE, will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the art center at 551 23rd St.
The exhibition features three galleries, including The Fourth Dimension organized by Marja Galpin van der Loo. The exhibition features works by 23 NIAD artists — past and present — who push the boundaries of textiles, clay, and works on paper.
A second exhibition entitled Medieval Modern comes courtesy of Los Angeles artist Micke Tong and uses various media, including sculpture, textile, and photography (in collaboration with celebrity photographer Eric Curtis), to reference imagery and tales from the Fifth to the 15th Century.
And the third exhibition is by Yuka Kobayashi, who only recently began to create at NIAD. Her drawings overflow with people, plants and hearts.
If you can’t attend the reception, these three exhibitions will be available for viewing through June 30. The NIAD Art Center opens Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m.
