Good deeds planned for ‘Global Community Day’ in Richmond

Un día comunitario planeado para celebrar el ‘Día de Comunidad Global’ en Richmond

Locals are invited to celebrate the ServiceWorks Richmond “Global Community Day” event on Saturday, June 10, when they will have the opportunity to clean up a city park and other sites while assisting the homeless.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the community will meet at 3230 Macdonald Ave. to clean up Nichol Park, revamp the Richmond Tool Library and spruce up the Community Services Department.

In addition, participants are asked to consider bringing new, unworn clothing essentials like underwear, socks and belts to donate to the Bay Area Rescue Mission, the Richmond-based homeless services center.

Donations will qualify participants for the chance to win raffle prizes.

Folks are scheduled to meet promptly at 11 a.m. at Nichol Park’s picnic tables for registration. Those under age 18 will need a parent to sign a liability waiver. To RSVP, go here. Participants will be provided lunch and refreshments.

The cleanup effort is a partnership with the city of Richmond Community Services Department, Richmond Tool Library, and Richmond Love Your Block.
