The Nichol Park skateboard park in Richmond will host “The Science of Skateboard Physics” this Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The annual event, presented by Richmond Library Teens in collaboration with Richmond Parks and Recreation Division, teaches youth the science behind why they can perform tricks on their skateboards.

The free event includes a visit by the San Francisco Exploratorium interactive mobile skateboard van that teaches the physics behind such tricks as “ollies.”

A stunt and safety demonstration will take place and raffle prizes will be offered along with free hot dogs and drinks.
