Give pizza a chance! We tried Richmond’s newest pizzeria
By Zach Chouteau
Our most recent ‘The Rich Life’ outing involved a taste of one of Richmond’s newest eateries, Pizza Your Way, which debuted on April 20 at 1428 Macdonald Ave.
While we may not be professional restaurant reviewers—food is all a matter of taste, after all—it’s fair to report that everyone in our group of eight diners plans to return for another meal.
While business was understandably slow given its newish status and that it was a Monday evening, the eatery holds definite potential as a popular local hangout.
The loft-like dining spot has a casually hip feel, brick-lined walls and numerous big-screen TVs that sports fans will especially love. Ample natural light from the massive windows is another plus, as is an open kitchen that lets you take in the hard-working cooks making the pizza and other fare.
My wife, young son and I shared a small cheese pizza, Caesar salad and hamburger plate, all of which hit the spot—especially the simple but delicious pizza. Beverages included Mexican sodas and fresh lemonade served in mason jars, and the business plans to begin serving wine soon as well. A children’s play area is also in the works, though my son Logan seemed to think the entire establishment already is one.
The entire bill for six adults and two children was around $125, including multiple beverages. We plan to try the chicken wings next time, and are excited to hear the place will soon be offering catering and delivery. For adventurous diners seeking to try something out-of-the-box (no pun intended), the establishment also offers sweet pizzas, topped with items like lechera sauce, plantains and peaches.
Pizza Your Way is open from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
