Motorcyclist suffers minor injuries after I-580 gravel spill in Richmond

CHP asks for public's assistance in finding I-80 road rage shooter

A gravel spill caused a motorcyclist to crash on Interstate Highway 580 in Richmond Thursday afternoon, causing minor injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The spill was reported at about 1:30 p.m. on the highway’s westbound lanes, east of Canal Boulevard, after a gravel truck lost part of its load.

All westbound lanes were blocked as a result. The truck was not located after the incident, CHP said.

Caltrans crews responded and swept up the spill, allowing all lanes to reopen by about 4 p.m.
