As part of an effort to feed children and extend their learning, the San Pablo Library is serving free after-school meals until school gets out this June, according to Bay City News.
Meals will be served to anyone under age 18 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday until June 7 at the library at 2300 El Portal Drive.
The program, a collaboration with the California Summer Meal Coalition and the West Contra Costa Unified School District, is similar to the Lunch at the Library program that is held during the summer months. However, this summer lunches won’t be served due to the relocation to the new library to its new spot at San Pablo Avenue and Church Lane.
In addition to free meals this spring, free activities will be offered during the afterschool program including arts and crafts, board games and Legos.
“This program provides an additional service to the neediest members of our community,” San Pablo Library Manager Gia Paolini said in a statement.
