Richmond police investigating fatal hit-and-run

Richmond police are investigating a possible hit and run collision Friday night that killed a man.

The incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Barrett Avenue, Richmond police Lt. Felix Tan said.

An officer was flagged down and the victim was found in the middle of the road with a shopping cart tipped over and belongings strewn in the road, Tan said.

Officers believe that a vehicle hit the man. His name was not being released until next of kin was informed about his death, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office.
