An online fundraiser has been launched for the young children of Rashanda Franklin, 29, of Richmond, who was fatally shot on Thursday in front of her two young children in what police believe was a domestic violence incident.

Franklin’s little sister identified her children as Eric, Aiden and Jasiah and said they need money and much more right now.

“I don’t care if it’s a penny or love…” she wrote in the fundraiser. “All the love support and condolences is appreciated.”

A makeshift memorial (pictured) has been set up at the site where Franklin’s life was stripped from her.

Franklin was fatally shot about about 8:40 a.m. Thursday while on her way to drop off children at a daycare.

Her ex-boyfriend Lawyer Dushan McBride, 43, of San Pablo, has been arrested for the murder.

Authorities say McBride began following Franklin’s car as she was driving two of her children. Franklin had been trying to avoid him, but when she arrived at the stop sign on Rheem Ave. at 29th St., McBride allegedly drove his car ahead and in the path of her car. He then exited his car, walked up to Franklin, argued for a few seconds and shot her as the children watched, police said. He immediately fled southbound on 29th St in his car.

Witnesses to the shooting assisted the children and, along with video surveillance in the area, helped identify McBride as well as the Mercedes he had been driving.

Police reportedly had responded to previous domestic violence cases involving the couple.

Around 1 p.m. today, Richmond detectives along with a U.S. Marshals Service task force arrested McBride in Sacramento and the Mercedes was also impounded for evidence, police said.
