Richmond police detectives have arrested a second suspect in connection with the March 10, 2016 murder of 15-year-old Malik Barnes.
Parrish Renee Rauls, 21, of Richmond (pictured) had been on the run for a year, but a Richmond police detective developed information about his whereabouts, police Lt. Felix Tan said. They passed along Rauls’ location to a U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force, which arrested him in Oakland Wednesday, Tan said.
Rauls and a 17-year-old boy were named as suspects within a few weeks of Barnes’ murder. The 17-year-old, who wasn’t identified by RPD, was taken into custody June 17, 2016.
Murder charges were filed against both suspects along with gang enhancements.
“We would like to thank the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force for always being willing to help local law enforcement agencies with finding fugitives,” Tan said. “We’re also proud of our detectives’ tenacity in finding the suspect involved in the heinous murder of 15 yr. old William Malik Barnes.”
