Richmond Art in Windows opening reception set for Thursday

The 7th Annual Art In Windows exhibition is set to have an opening reception Thursday, March 16, in the ground-floor level of the BART parking garage in Richmond, 1600 Macdonald Ave.

The event is called Richmond In Focus and features works of photography by Richmond artists Tony Tamayo, Ellen Gailing, Ken Osborn and RYSE Center.

The whole community is invited downtown for the opening reception.

Art in Windows was launched in 2010 in order to breathe life into vacant storefronts. It adds to the many artistic amenities along Macdonald Avenue, including murals, historic markers, sculpture installations, and digital displays.

“The photographs will be on display and visible through the end of April, so passersby will be able to enjoy the art,” said Alicia Gallo, outreach coordinator for the Richmond Main Street Initiative. “But the reception is really the only opportunity that folks will be able to take a closer look and experience the pieces on a more intimate level.”

Art In Windows: Richmond In Focus is sponsored by Richmond Main Street Initiative and Richmond Arts & Culture Commission, with generous support from City of Richmond, BART, and participating artists.
