WCCUSD soccer teams go 4-0 in NCS playoffs Wednesday

All four boys soccer teams representing the West Contra Costa Unified School District in the North Coast Section playoffs won their first round games on Wednesday.

At Richmond High School, the Oilers (17-5 overall, 9-0-1 league) defeated Rancho Cotate 2-1 in the Division 2 playoff bracket. They next host Las Lomas on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Also in Division 2, the No. 16-seeded De Anza High Dons (13-7-5, 7-2-1) stunned No. 1 Ygnacio Valley 4-3 in overtime. Samuel Cervantes scored two goals for the Dons, according to the East Bay Times.

The other two WCCUSD playoff teams compete in Division 3. The Kennedy High Eagles (15-6-2 overall, 7-1 league) defeated Sonoma Valley 2-1. They next move on to host Pinole Valley High Saturday at 7 p.m.

Pinole Valley (13-6-3 overall, 7-1 league) gets to play another game after defeating Drake High (Marin) in overtime 2-1 on Wednesday. The Spartans were led with goals by Edwin Montoya and Sebastian Perez, according to MaxPreps.com.
