'Bootcamp' in San Pablo pairs local job seekers with opportunities

Local job seekers are encouraged to apply for a five-week bootcamp hosted by the San Pablo Economic Development Corporation that has proven to place people in positions.

The Business Administration Bootcamp is set to run from Feb. 27 through March 30 at the San Pablo Community Center at 2450 Road 20 in San Pablo.

The bootcamp prepares students for full-time office jobs via training in such areas as computer skills, personal branding (LinkedIn profile, pitch, online presence), resume review and access to employment panels, program officials said.

This will be the program’s second bootcamp in San Pablo. After the first bootcamp, 91-percent of participants landed in jobs “within one month of completing the program.”

Program officials say they continue providing job search support until a student is employed.

Leslay Choy, executive director of the San Pablo Economic Development Corporation, wants “every student matched with a job opportunity.”

To be eligible, students must have a high school diploma, GED, or CHSPE authorized to work in the U.S., and be English literate.
