The passenger of a car that crashed on an Interstate Highway 80 off-ramp in Richmond Sunday night was killed, and the driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, authorities said.

The collision occurred about 11:30 p.m. on the Cutting Boulevard on-ramp from westbound Highway 80, according to the California Highway Patrol. Arriving officers found a 2003 Lexus sedan that had overturned, and learned a woman had been ejected from the vehicle. The victim, identified as 21-year-old Jessica Green of San Pablo, was taken to the hospital, where she died, CHP said.

Smith wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, a CHP officer said.

The vehicle’s driver, identified as 21-year-old Lexus Taylor of Richmond, suffered major injuries and was also taken to a hospital, where officers determined she was under the influence of alcohol.

Taylor was arrested but remains in the hospital this morning in stable condition.
