Volunteers sought for tree planting event in Belding Woods neighborhood

Volunteers encouraged to help plant trees in Burg Park this Saturday

The community organization Richmond Trees is inviting residents to its next community tree-planting event this Saturday.

“We would love to see some new faces,” organizers said in their email newsletter.

Richmond Trees is partnering with The Watershed Project to plant trees throughout the Belding Woods neighborhood. Volunteers are asked to meet at 9 a.m. at Belding Garcia Park, 17th Street and Coalinga Avenue.

“We will meet in the park and groups will disperse into the surrounding neighborhood to plant street trees,” organizers said. “We worked with The Watershed Project in the Belding Woods neighborhood last spring, and there are many more enthusiastic tree adopters, so we are thrilled to get back there! We are transforming our city, one tree at a time, and it is especially rewarding to plant several trees in one area because the impact is instantaneous. It is sure to be a fun event!”

Volunteers are encouraged to RSVP, but can also just show up. Email to RSVP here.

The event may be rescheduled in the event of heavy rain.
