Parents and community members are encouraged to attend the West Contra Costa Unified School District’s 11th Annual Parents as Partners and Leaders Conference on Saturday.

The conference, which draws more than 500 parents annually, offers workshops that will help them support their child’s academic career, WCCUSD said.

It will run from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at DeJean Middle School, 3400 Macdonald Ave.

“Workshops include sessions on bullying prevention, navigating the special education system, paying for college through the Richmond Promise program, and tips on helping children become better at reading and math,” the district said.

A full list of workshops is available here.

Erika Leonard, director of Kidpower California, is the keynote speaker.
