Apparently we haven’t been drinking enough coffee, because it has taken us a month to wake up to the fact that a new coffee shop has opened in San Pablo.

On Friday, the city praised the mid-September opening of East Bay Coffee in the San Pablo Community Center at 2450 Road 20, right next to Helms Middle School and also near Contra Costa College.

This is East Bay Coffee’s second location. In 2014, it opened in its first coffee house at 2529 San Pablo Ave. in Pinole. The spot, which includes an event space featuring open mic nights, has enjoyed rave reviews on Yelp, scoring on average 4.5 out of 5 stars from 395 reviewers.

And we’ve also learned that East Bay Coffee is set to open a third location at the new San Pablo Library at San Pablo Avenue and Church Lane, which enjoyed a groundbreaking ceremony on Sept. 19.

But first, pay the San Pablo Community Center location a visit — we certainly will.
