BART, which is currently testing its new Fleet of the Future cars, is allowing riders multiple opportunities this month to step into one.

The transit is holding Open House events at four separate East Bay stations, including El Cerrito del Norte on Sunday, Oct. 30:

  • Saturday, October 15th at Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre Station 11 am- 4 pm
  • Sunday, October 16th at MacArthur Station 11 am – 4 pm
  • Saturday, October 29th at Dublin/Pleasanton Station 11 am – 4 pm
  • Sunday, October 30th at El Cerrito del Norte Station 11 am – 4 pm

The free event will occur on a station platform and the first 200 visitors at each one will receive a commemorative toy train that were donated to BART.

BART expects to have 60 or more of the new Fleet of the Future cars in service by the end of 2017, and 230 by the end of 2018. Currently, BART is using the same cars it started with more than 40 years ago.

The new cars are expected to be quieter, cooler and more comfortable.
