A Celebration of Life is scheduled for San Pablo Police Officer Ken Zink at a Vacaville church on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
The ceremony honoring Zink, who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Vallejo while on the way to work Thursday of last week, begins at 11 a.m. at The Father’s House Church, 4800 Horse Creek Drive, according to the San Pablo Police Department.
The community is in deep mourning over the death of a police officer revered for his commitment to the people he served. The two-time winner of Officer of the Year for his department was described as humble, approachable and irreplaceable. On Tuesday, students, staff and parents from Helms Middle School, where Zink most recently served as school resource officer, marched to the San Pablo Police Department in remembrance.
Police said they have received “numerous questions” from the community about were flowers can be delivered.
“They can be made between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. to The Father’s House Church on the morning of the Celebration of Life,” police said in a statement.
All law enforcement personnel planning to attend next week’s services were encouraged to wear their Class A uniform in honor of Zink. Media and camera use will not be allowed inside the church to protect the privacy of the officer’s family.
The San Pablo Police Employee’s Association has launched an online fundraiser to assist Zink’s family with expenses.
