7 artists tackle presidential election at BridgeMakerARTS upcoming exhibit

In a highly anticipated exhibit that “does not favor one political view over another,” BridgeMakerARTS in Richmond is featuring the works of seven artists who examine the world in light of the coming 2016 Presidential elections.

The exhibit runs from Saturday, Oct. 8 through Nov. 5 at BridgeMakerARTS at 23 Maine Ave. An opening reception will take place this Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The exhibit, called The Arts Political, reconsiders “where we are and where we might be headed” with the election upcoming. It was curated by artists Art Hazelwood and Barbosa Prince.

Featured artists are Scott Anderson, Lucia Ippolito, Frances Jetter, Philip Lawson, Jos Sances, James Shefik, and Michelle Maren Williams

Prince says artists were asked to examine various strands of the world in relationship to the election, as well as where we might be headed after polls close Nov. 8.

“We tried to put together a show that was more insightful than your standard political show,” Prince said.

BridgeMakerARTS’ gallery hours are Wednesdays through Mondays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
