The SS Red Oak Victory is taking the upcoming Fleet Week celebration to a whole new level, with plans to stage a WWII Shipyard re-enactment on the ship, dock and under the Whirley Crane.

The event will take place Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 1337 Canal Blvd. in Richmond.

“We expect military vehicles, WWII re-enactors; will have lots of food, and live music,” according to Johannes Hoech, director of ship operations.

The cost is $25 per person and includes the meal and access to all of the festivities. Only 150 tickets are available for the event, and they are going fast. Here is the link for more information.

The fun doesn’t end there. On Oct. 9, SS Red Oak Victory will host the regular pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 12:30 pm.

“The only place in the SF Bay Area where you can have your pancakes cooked on a bona fide Diesel-fired stove,” Hoech said.

San Francisco Fleet Week runs from Oct. 3 through Oct. 10 and is a celebration of the sea-faring U.S. military. It includes air shows, a parade of ships and exhibits and attracts many military members to the city.
