Richmond police are searching for a suspect — identified as 20-year-old Jeremy Moore (pictured) — in the fatal shooting of Otilio “Nico” Martinez in front of a local church on Sept. 19.
Martinez (pictured below) was gunned down in front of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church at 5150 Bayview Ave. at 11:36 p.m., police said. He had been walking home from work. The 18-year-old had graduated from high school in June, and his death has deeply affected the community, leading to daily vigils.
A motive isn’t yet known for the murder, but Richmond police detectives believe Moore is a suspect and also a “validated member of the Swerve Team gang in Richmond,” police said.
A $2 million arrest warrant has been issued for Moore, who is not in custody and is “armed and extremely dangerous,” police said.
Moore stands 5-8 and weighs 130-pounds.
Anyone who knows of Moore’s whereabouts are asked to dial or test to 911, or call RPD Homicide Detective C. Decious at (510) 621-1747.
