On Monday, Sept. 19, a groundbreaking ceremony will be held for the new San Pablo Library at San Pablo Avenue and Church Lane.
The community is invited to the event, which will run from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. San Pablo Mayor Rich Kinney and Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia will be among the speakers.
The new $6 million library project designed by Group 4 Architecture will occupy 22,000 square feet and will be LEED certified. See our story from earlier this year to view some of the architect’s photo renderings of what the library will look like, both inside and out.
The new library, set to open summer next year, is nearly three times the size of the current county branch located at 2300 El Portal Drive.
