Police released a photo of the murder suspect arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Paul King in North Richmond on July 19.

Following an argument that escalated at about 9:45 p.m. that night, Kendrick Barfield, 39, of Richmond, allegedly shot 32-year-old Paul King multiple times in the upper torso, according to the Richmond Police Department.

After police were called, King was found lying in the middle of the roadway in the 200 block of Gertrude Ave., where he succumbed to his injuries, police said. Barfield fled.

Ten days following the killing, police caught up with Barfield, who is listed online as a registered sex offender, in an apartment in the city’s Southern District. Prosecutors charged him on Tuesday with multiple enhancements and his bail was set at $5.8 million.

“We hope this arrest brings some closure to Paul King’s family and that justice will soon prevail,” police said in a statement.
