Local cities will hold annual crime-prevention celebrations as part of National Night Out on Tuesday, with Richmond’s kick-off party beginning at 5 p.m. in the parking lot of the Target store at 4500 Macdonald Ave.
National Night Out aims to build bonds between neighbors and police officers and increase crime prevention education via community block parties.
At Richmond‘s version of the event, the community will meet up for fun activities near the Target store at 5 p.m., and from there, at 6 p.m., a caravan of police personnel and citizens will head out to visit block parties held by residents along the way. The night will end with a party on 23rd Street at the Veterans Memorial Hall at 968 23rd St.
The celebration includes a Police vs. Fire three-on-three basketball tournament.
