The free, fun and family-friendly Picnic in the Point is set to take place on Saturday, Sept. 24, the Point Richmond Business Association announced Wednesday.

The 7th annual event, which attracts hundreds of people from the community and around the Bay Area, will run from noon to 5 p.m. at Judge G. Carroll Park at West Cutting and Gerard boulevards in Point Richmond.

A fundraiser for local charities, the picnic will include live performances by Felsen, an indie pop-rock band from Oakland, along with Michael Van and the Movers, an alternative country band originally from Georgia.

There will also be food, drinks, games, prizes, and much more. Ticket booklets for food, drink and activities can be purchased for $20 apiece in advance at Up & Under Pub (2 West Richmond Ave., Point Richmond) and Smith Office Solutions (210 Washington Ave., Point Richmond). The purchase of an advanced ticket booklet includes one entry into a gift basket raffle. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the event.
