Low-cost courses in Richmond this fall aim to help local entrepreneurs thrive

The Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center in Richmond has announced three low-cost upcoming programs to help local entrepreneurs and small business owners achieve success.

A 4-week course entitled Start Smart Afternoon begins Sept. 12 and runs through Oct. 3. The class meets every Monday from 12:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center, 1500 Macdonald Ave.

The courses provide the basic tools to start a successful business, including creating a mission statement, assessing skills and resources, crafting a business idea and testing the feasibility of a business.

For those who cannot attend the afternoon course, there is also a Start Smart Evening course that runs from Sept. 12 through Oct. 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Catholic Charities of the East Bay, 217 Harbour Way.

Locals can also sign up for the Business Preparation program beginning Oct. 10. The intermediate course lasts 11 weeks and covers business basics and is designed to determine a business’ feasibility. Participants will also be able to write business plans by learning marketing, operations and finance in the three-hour session, which run from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Catholic Charities of the East Bay. The fee for this class is between $120 and $240, although scholarships are available.  For more info on this program, go here.
