A writer for Diablo Magazine recently praised the new Riggers Loft wine collective on Richmond’s waterfront, saying a recent visit made her wonder “why we’d ever travel to Napa again.”

The full quote by Sara Hare:

“Our group nestled into the luxurious leather armchairs near the bar. Sipping fine wines while sampling a selection of truly tasty nibbles from Street Eats, an on-site food truck, we wondered why we’d ever travel to Napa again.”

We encourage our readers to read the full review of Hare’s experience.

The Riggers Loft building at 1325 Canal Blvd. houses three East Bay wineries — Carica Wines, R&B Cellars and Irish Monkey Cellars — as well as the cidery, Far West Cider Co.

Tasting room hours are Thursdays and Fridays from  4p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 9 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. The rest of the week is reserved for production work.

The historic SS Red Oak Victory is docked right next to Riggers Loft and is a good option to incorporate into visits. The ship opens to visitors Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
