The mural that was created by more than 250 community members with help from professional artists last month is set to be installed today at the community garden at Macdonald Avenue and Harbour Way.
And then on Saturday, Aug. 27 — seven days later than originally planned — a public unveiling and celebration will be held at the mural site from noon to 4 p.m. See the flier below for more information on the event.
The mural project by San Francisco-based Create Peace Project, led by Ross Holzman, had community members from ages five through 80 help add to the art. The large canvas was displayed in Civic Center Plaza for a whole week, allowing passersby or visiting groups to help out.
“There was no formal design; it was painted through an organic process by inviting participants to freely express themselves on the mural,” organizers said.
