Richmond Convention & Visitor’s Bureau ED leaving for Florida position

Beth Javens (pictured on left), executive director of the Richmond Convention & Visitors Bureau since 2013, is leaving the role for a position in Florida.

In September, Javens will assume the role of executive director with Cocoa Beach Main Street. The search for her replacement in Richmond begins next month.

A native of Pennsylvania, Javens says the move was in large part so she can live closer to family in Florida.

“I will always advocate for Richmond,” she said in a statement. “This was a very difficult decision. I want more people to get to know Richmond as I have.  I will be leaving mentors, friends and students (interns) who I want to see succeed.”

Marsha Tomassi, the Richmond CVB board president, said Javens leaves behind big shoes to fill, adding, “Richmond is better for her leadership.”

Javens was credited for guiding an increase of the budget at Richmond CVB, for creating new web-based and social media platform programs, for establishing important community partnerships, a tourism grant program and expanding an internship program.
