Richmond has received a grant to retrain citizens who have been laid off and are struggling to find a new job.
The city’s Workforce Development Board will use the California Employment Development Department grant to help those laid off workers become prepared to fill high-demand occupations in the city and throughout the Bay Area.
The program will sponsor vocational training (classroom training) in a demand occupation for up to $5,000, along with on-the-job training. The program also offers up to $500 in support services for gas and supplies, although funding is limited.
