At La Strada Italian Cuisine in San Pablo through July 24, five dishes will be selling at their original 1996 prices as the well-known eatery celebrates its 20th anniversary.

The restaurant at 2215 Church Lane is also hosting parties with live music this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And on Monday, the San Pablo City Council recognized the restaurant’s anniversary with a city proclamation.

La Strada is a special place for local residents. It was launched by Martin Gonzalez and brother-in-law Adrian Munoz, who envisioned providing affordable meals in an upscale setting with extra-care customer service.

In its proclamation, the city praised La Strada’s decor as “reminiscent of Italy with its archways that overlooks the kitchen, murals, old brick facade and curtains, oversized wine bottles” and extensive Italian red and white wine list.

The eatery was also praised for supporting San Pablo Chamber of Commerce mixers, sponsoring fundraisers and programs for senior citizens and youth and catering several city events.
