The registration period for summer Regional Occupational Program classes ends at 5 p.m. on July 13.

Community members interested in a career in the petrochemical industry are encouraged to sign up for the free program, which is funded by Chevron in partnership with the Contra Costa County Office of Education.

ROP prepares local residents for careers in industrial facilities, including the Richmond Refinery. Along with learning technical skills such as basics in mechanics, mathematics and chemistry, trainees also learn communication and analytical skills, safety practices, how to work independently and as part of a team, and are trained at interviewing for jobs.

To learn more about the experience from the point of view of students and teachers, check out our coverage of a recent ROP graduation.

To register, sign up at www.cccoe.net/rop/signup.
