Following in the footsteps of a debut event in 2015 that raised $25,000 for local youth sports, Richmond Mayor Tom Butt has announced plans for the 2nd Annual Community Fund Golf Tournament, to be held Monday, Oct. 17 at the Richmond Country Club.

The Richmond Mayor’s Community Fund was created to support activities in Richmond not currently supported by the City or other funders. They include youth leadership and summer employment programs, and efforts to keep the City green. A steering committee of community members has decided that the fund for 2017 will once again focus on supporting Richmond’s youth athletic teams and leagues.

Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. Golf starts at noon with a dinner following. Participants can sign up as individual golfers ($250), as foursomes ($1,000) or as sponsors (up to $5,000).  Or guests can simply sign on for dinner for a $50 contribution.

The Richmond Country Club is located at 1 Markovich Lane, and more information can be found at the website for the Richmond Community Foundation.

Chevron is among the platinum-level sponsors of the October event, which will also include a gala celebratory dinner at 6 p.m. following golf.
