Manzanita Charter Middle School is returning to its original campus in St. Luke’s Methodist Church for the 2016-2017 school year, school officials announced.

The middle school first opened its doors at St. Luke’s at Barrett Avenue and 32nd Street in 2000. The Richmond Standard recently visited the church site and observed significant renovations underway.

Class sizes are 20 students for most grades. Classrooms are equipped with advanced technology, including Google Chromebooks and Smart Boards. Applications are being accepted for all grades. The 7th and 8th grades currently have a waiting list.

“The school places a strong emphasis on an academic curriculum, taught within a secure and safe community in which all students belong and feel that they are part of a family,” school officials said.
