A tip from an observant motorist helped Richmond police get a loaded gun off the streets last week.

The incident took place on June 28 around 3:30 p.m. when a truck driver stopped at a red light on Richmond Parkway at Parr Boulevard noticed the neighboring driver holding a gun in his lap. The truck driver called police and gave a detailed description of the car, including its license plate, and its location.

Police responded to the call and tracked down the suspect on Richmond Parkway at Ohio Ave. After stopping the car, officers saw a firearm tucked into the middle console. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and the loaded .40 caliber pistol secured safely.
