The CrossFit Riveter gym at 4938 McBryde Ave. has only been around for a few  months, but it is already attracting a community that is bonding around the business.

Its owned by Richmond native Camilo Ramirez, who says the CrossFit program is essentially “fitness for life.” It’s a collaborative approach that brings people together in one large space who help each other achieve fitness goals.

It’s hard work, but it’s fun, too.

“They become buddies,” Ramirez said. “They become friends as a result of showing up and going through the workout together.”

Ramirez loves Richmond and says it has a charm that only people who were born or raised in the community can fully appreciate.

“It’s the people,” he said. “The communities that are around. It’s pretty tight-knit.”

This Richmond native has brought that sense of community into his spacious gym. Just eyeing the business’ Facebook page offers a sense of the enthusiasm and motivation going on there.

The gym opens in the mornings and evenings, before and after work for most people. We encourage our readers to stop by and learn more.
