CCC’s new Campus Center opens for classes Aug. 12

The folks at Contra Costa College are understandably excited about opening the new Campus Center next month.

School officials posted the photo above on Facebook and said they will soon release videos of the $52 million center, which includes three new modern buildings. The campus replaced the 57-year-old Student Activities and Humanities buildings, which was demolished before the 2014 fall semester.

The campus opens when fall classes begin Aug. 12.

Funded by voter-approved bonds, the Campus Center includes a three-story General Education Building with state-of-the-art classrooms, including a 201-seat lecture hall and faculty offices.

It also includes Fireside Hall, an “open-format meeting center for community events and campus gatherings,” the school said.

And the final piece is the Student & Administration Building, which features student activity, study and dining spaces; including teaching restaurant AquaTerra Grill; a bookstore; career/transfer center; veterans services center and administration offices, the school said.
