Richmond youth to join Ceasefire effort by holding panel discussion

Richmond youth are taking action against violence in their city by collaborating with the city’s Operation Ceasefire team on a panel discussion at City Hall next month.

Richmond Ceasefire is a violence prevention program that teams police, community members and clergy in reaching out to at-risk youth and holding nighttime marches.

On Thursday, the Richmond Youth Council announced its partnership with Ceasefire, saying the groups will jointly hold a discussion on violence at 10 a.m. Aug. 10 in the multipurpose room at 440 Civic Center Plaza.

“In addition, we’ll discuss the methods we’ve used to address the issues  and how we can improve the quality of life for our residents and the one’s whom we often forget  about, our youth,”  Chairman Joseph Jackson said in a statement.
