National Night Out seeks performers for August event

National Night Out, designed to make neighborhoods safer through police-resident bonding, is seeking live performers for Richmond’s city-wide event.

Artists are being sought who are interested in performing on the National Night Out Stage on Tuesday, August 2 at the Target parking lot, at 4500 Macdonald Ave. All performers are welcome to respond, including martial artists, fashion designers, drill teams, family-friendly musical acts and spoken word presenters.

While not paid, artists will have the chance to sell CDs and promote upcoming projects and performances, and the first groups to sign up will have an opportunity to be part of the media promotional package for the event. The festivities begin at 5 p.m. with performances slated for 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Attendees will find food, entertainment, and a community caravan to more than 20 block parties around Richmond. The end party will be located at the Veteran’s Hall located at 968 23rd St., and will include a Police Dept. vs. Fire Dept. three-on-three basketball tournament.

For more information on performing, email Crime Prevention Manager Michelle Milam, with the Richmond Police, at  Additional 411 on the event can be found at its official Facebook page.
