An evening of music, poetry, paintings and photos that celebrate artists influenced by the Bay Area Beat Generation and Bohemian tradition is set to take place at BridgeMaker Arts in Richmond.
An opening reception will be held for the gallery event on July 9 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at BridgeMaker Arts, 23 Maine Ave. Featured artists include Dennis Hearne, Bruce McGaw, Peter Onstad and Barry Schalin. Poets include A.D. Winans and Q.R.Hand Jr.
The art will continue to be on display for public viewing at the gallery from July 9 through Aug. 13.
“San Francisco’s bohemian tradition pre-dated the Beats, and continues with the next-generation artists who came of age in the 1960s and 1970s and are continuing to make art informed by a certain bohemian sensibility,” according to gallery organizers. “These artists have worked continually over half a century to push boundaries and embody the spirit of the post-beat era.”
