Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver of a car involved in a hit-and-run incident that seriously injured a 16-year-old girl last week.
The incident occurred on Monday, June 27, at about 7:00 p.m., when the teen was hit by a westbound bound car while in the crosswalk at Macdonald Avenue and 25th Street. The girl suffered substantial head and facial injuries.
The driver never stopped after striking the teen, continuing west on Macdonald Avenue before turning north on 23rd Street. Witnesses described the suspect’s car as a silver or grey Dodge Challenger. The car had front-end body damage, a damaged passenger-side mirror and possible “racing stripes.”
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have additional information to contact Traffic Investigator I. Reid at (510) 965-4903.
The victim remains hospitalized. Her family has joined the police in urging anyone with information to come forward.
“I’m desperate,” the victim’s mother told the Richmond Standard. “My daughter is suffering while this criminal is loose.”
