The US Coast Guard has agreed to allow 300 passengers aboard the SS Red Oak Victory during the Independence Day celebrations this weekend, double the number initially planned for the events, according to Director of Ship Operations Johannes Hoech.

Dinner, drinks and fireworks-watching are planned aboard the ship on July 3 (see flyer below for more info), with tickets costing $45. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (510) 237-2933.

The ship will open again July 4 for folks wanting to view the other fireworks shows happening around the Bay Area, at a cost of $10 per person. No reservations are needed for this event.

The adding of 150 passengers to Independence Day celebrations comes as very good news for the SS Red Oak Victory, as revenue from tickets sold will go toward the historic ship’s restoration.
