Brookvale Pharmacy, which was named 2016 Small Business of the Year by the San Pablo Economic Development Corp., has been in existence for just three years but has made a significant impact in terms of customer service.
Josh Speck, owner of the pharmacy at 2101 Vale Road, is a Richmond-trained expert of the industry who has implemented a free delivery service for customers similar to Amazon.com.
The business offers a 15-minute wait, free shipping and free delivery. Delivered prescriptions aim to reach homes within one day, Speck says.
Speck formerly worked at his family’s Central Pharmacy in Richmond.
“I was raised there,” Speck said. “I began learning the trade of pharmacy ever since I was 8 years old.”
Eventually Speck saved up enough money to buy the Vale Road store.
“I really love Richmond because that’s where I learned to take care of people,” Speck said.
And more important than speedy delivery is service with care, he added.
“Here we treat you by name, you’re not a number,” Speck said. “We actually want to talk to you, care for you and make sure you know how to take your medicine.”
