Richmond police are seeking the public’s help in locating a Vallejo man who is suspected of stealing the WWI-era cannon from the Richmond Veteran’s Memorial Hall on 23rd Street on May 1.

Police say they have “compelling evidence” that Dezi Adsuara (pictured), 44, is the thief.

After Richmond police reported the theft on May 11, a TV news report was seen by a man who had purchased the cannon on May 12. That man cooperated with authorities and returned the cannon the same day he had purchased it, police said.

Further investigation led to Adsuara being identified as the suspect, but police need the public’s help in finding him. He stands 5-7, weighs 210 pounds, has black hair, brown eyes and wears glasses. He is also known to use the alias of Roland Joseph Garcia. There is an outstanding $80,000 warrant for his arrest in connection with the cannon heist.

Anyone who knows of his whereabouts is asked to dial 911 or call Richmond Police Property Crimes Detective T. Kaiser at (510) 672-0764.
