Among the many treasures in our West County community is the Richmond Waterfront, which is both an ecological and historical gem.
That’s why I’m proud to invite you to join me and Karen Buchanan of the Point Richmond History Association on Saturday, June 11 for a moderate 2.3 mile hike (4.6 mile roundtrip) along the Richmond Waterfront at Marina Bay.
We’ll chat as we stroll, and Karen will focus her remarks on the waterfront’s rich World War II history while I will talk about the ecological health and diversity of the Bay.
Join us and contribute to the conversation! We’ll learn, get some exercise and enjoy some spectacular views, all in one morning.
You can also learn more about Measure AA, which will be on June’s ballot in all nine Bay Area counties. Measure AA is a $12 per year parcel tax measure that would generate funds to restore wetlands and shoreline around San Francisco Bay. Here is a fact sheet prepared by the San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority.
The measure will generate $25 million annually for 20 years for safe and clean water, pollution prevention, increased shoreline public access and recreation, natural flood protection, and fish, bird and wildlife habitat.
